Quality escape categories
- Quality escape
- A non-conformance discovered after release that affects fit, form, function, or documented condition.
- Suspect Unapproved Part (SUP)
- Per FAA AC 21-29, a part for which there is reason to believe it is not genuine, was not produced under FAA approval, or was improperly maintained or documented.
- Counterfeit part
- An item knowingly misrepresented as something it is not — re-marked, refurbished and represented as new, or fabricated to imitate an authorized source.
Customer notification timeline
- Verified escapes are reported to affected customers in writing within 5 business days of confirmation.
- Counterfeit / SUP confirmations are reported within 60 days per DFARS 252.246-7008(c) when the contract requires it; sooner where customer notification SLAs apply.
- Notifications include affected lot, date code, serial range, root cause, containment, corrective action, and customer-side recommended actions.
Industry reporting programs
- Government-Industry Data Exchange Program (GIDEP) ALERT — covered counterfeit findings reported per DFARS 252.246-7007.
- GIDEP SAFE-ALERT — safety hazards meeting GIDEP criteria.
- FAA Suspected Unapproved Parts (SUPs) reporting to the local FSDO and the FAA SUP Program Office.
- ATA / ARSA bulletins where the affected article is on a managed standard.
Internal containment
- Quarantine all related stock immediately on confirmation.
- Trace forward — every customer who received the affected lot is identified and notified.
- Trace backward — supplier source, lot, and acquisition path are documented.
- Counterfeit material is destroyed under documented chain of custody.
- Root-cause analysis triggers a supplier-scorecard adjustment and (where warranted) supplier suspension.
No quiet substitution
We tell you, every time
If a line is wrong, we say so. We never quietly substitute lots, change condition codes, or swap part numbers without explicit buyer approval. Silence is not a remedy.
